Memorial Day Weekend & What to Read

T minus 24 hours before we hit the road for a 4-day camping weekend with friends. As we begin packing, I've been searching for a new book to take.

I just found this website:

What Should I Read Next? Go there, type in the name of a book you like, and it will give you suggestions of other books that might captivate you. Amazon has a similar feature on their book reviews, but I was intrigued with this one. I searched for "The Time Traveler's Wife," and got a list of 10 recommendations. I'm heading out to Borders tonight, to buy Eva Moves the Furniture, by Margot Lindsey.

I also found out that you can search your local Borders online to see if they have a certain book in stock. That could have saved me a few trips, in the past.

This is the sort of thing I hope to put my energy into this weekend: Chaise lounge, a few good books, laughing with friends, cooking over open campfire...aaaaand back to that chaise lounge.

Have a great long weekend, folks. Catch ya on the flipside.

Oh, and still 4 hours before I head to Borders. Any good book suggestions, bring 'em on!

  1. Oh, 'The Time Traveller's Wife'! Every time I hear someone say they have read it I have to expound about how utterly amazing it was. Didn't you absolutely love it? I might have to read it again.

  4. Diana Gabaldon's Highlander series is pretty good.

Did you know Eric Bana is suppose to play Henry?

I recommend Pauline Trents first Novel. I hear she has her second in a series coming out soon. I think she s a wonderful, kind person. Her books have got to be fabulous!

  7. Sveny: I DID absolutely love it! It's nearly spoiled me on all other reading: I want every book I read to captivate me as much!

Momo: There might be a couple coolers full of bears there. Come on over!

MizLiz: I listened to Peony in love on CD; another great one! Can't remember the name of another one out, by the same author.

Jodie: I read the Highlander series years ago, and loved it also. There was a point, though, that I found Gabaldon to be a bit full of herself; the books too long and tedious. They began to smack more of historical textbooks, and didn't provide the "escape" I'm looking for when I read. I cheat, and skip pages. heh.

And I had no idea there was a movie in the works. Ohhh, I hope they can make it as wonderful as the book. You watch it first, and let me know.

MK99: Did I not mention the wine? There will definitely be wine.

I recomend "The Little Chapel on the River" by Gwendolyn Bounds or "Honeymoon with my Brother" by Frank Wisner.
