Tick, tock...You are getting sleeeeeepy....

Though we can't speak, Brian's been sending me photos while he's in desert training, and I've been forwarding them to my facebook account. The sentiments that his photos "make it real" to a lot of people inspire me to post them here also. Anything we can do to heighten awareness that thousands of families are facing what we do not hear enough about in the news, these days, I think, is worthwhile.

Ours are still in Iraq and Afghanistan. They still train for year-long tours.

I speculate that they're doing sleep deprivation training. This one came with the message "Me, sleepy."

And the message on this one: "Our little baby 2nd lieutenant, sleeping."

I don't think I've ever been this tired.

Have you ever been tired enough to sleep sitting or standing up? Tell us, these guys will enjoy your answers.

  1. yes, I actually fell asleep at work today for about 20 minutes. I started getting up at 5:15 this week for boot camp (yes I'm in my 40's and doing boot camp - laugh all you want soldiers!) and I was sitting at my desk and before I knew it 20 minutes had passed. and Q also falls asleep when he is sitting completely upright. His head just sort of bops down and suddenly I'll hear snoring.

  2. Just looking at your dear boy's eyes made me sleepy, but I remember being young! Stay up all night, work all day, and then party till the cows come home. Youth, I sure miss it.

  3. Well, yes....back in the day, I worked the night shift. The 4am-ish hour was always the worst. More than once I caught myself almost falling over asleep on the toilet. I learned to find some other activity to keep me awake during that witching hour. Counting pills...walking halls...eating.

To this day, I can fall asleep about anywhere in any position. I in part blame my mom (that's a whole other story), I blame the shift work, I blame ?? :-)

  5. When I was about 8 years old I fell asleep standing up at a motorway service station. I went down like shit off a shovel. Needless to say I never made that mistake again.
