Wow, you can put things low down in your house? I'm jealous! Anything less than three to four feet from the ground in our house is fair game to the two dogs totalling about 220 pounds between them (especially anything at tail level!). We have more dogproofing than I ever had to kidproof for the kidlet. :)
My cat used to do that...used to drive me UP THE WALLL!!! I did all the research trying to figure out what it was that made him do it.
I bought that cat plant for him to chew, I changed the soil so it didn't smell...I came to the conclusion he was bored and no matter how many toys I bought him there was things he just enjoyed doing and that was annoyingly one of them....that and opening bags of Frito Lays but not eating them once he'd opened them!!! LOL
A girl I know does this to keep her cat out of plants:
Take a regular pencil and stick pins through the eraser, so that the pointy end is sticking out. It looks like Eraserhead meets Pinhead. Then stick the writing end into the dirt of your houseplant. If there are a couple in each plant, there's not enough room for the kitty to get into the dirt without getting poked, but they're not sturdy enough to actually puncture the cat. Seemed to work for her!
too funny! one of my cats would get into a plant/planter to dig and eat the leaves. someone told me to get a spray bottle and spray her with water so she'd get conditioned to not get into the plant. well, i would spray her and spray her but she wouldn't budge! she ended up soaking wet (with ears laid back and hissing at me) but would not get out. i gave up and moved all my plants out of HER way!
Thanks for your laughter and tips, everyone. I'm just glad I got my vacuum sweeper fixed!
I bought a cat-repellant that did the trick...for about 24 hours.
I sprinkled red chili pepper around the edge of the flower pots tonight, and LO, she doesn't care for that one bit...let's hope I don't burn my plants up with it!
My first reaction to that was pure, uncensored laughter.
ReplyDeleteThen it was oh no...no no no.
I know what happened! She had that cup in her mouth and didn't see where she was going! (I laughed too)
ReplyDeleteROTFLOL!
ReplyDeleteThey never do it when you are watching.
BTW - you do realize that you are now an official cat slave. Your sole purpose in life is to attend to her every whim and desire.
